KOCH GUARDIAN GLASS
Disrupting the window installation market
Rapid design, prototyping, and testing to gauge product desirability
Project Product innovation | Role UX/UI Design Lead | Agency Rightpoint, London
Opportunity
Guardian Glass saw an opportunity to use the power of digital to change the window buying experience for its consumers.
No one else offered such a a direct-to-consumer service and Guardian wanted to rapidly assess whether consumers would commit to using such a solution over existing retail installers, with Spain as the pilot market.
Approach
Through a rapid innovation design sprint we reached a speedy decision. Guardian Glass partnered with our Rightpoint team over a 2-week design sprint workshop to ideate, prototype and validate the new concept.
We encouraged the team to start with the customer and draw inspiration from in/out of category examples
Collaboratively ideated to think expansively around all possible solutions features that should go into a concept
Designed a clickable prototype we could test with real customers in the Spanish market
Outcome
In collaboration with the client I created a fit-for-purpose prototype focused on features critical to testing desirability. User testing revealed an overwhelming desire to commit to using a digital alternative to install windows. User feedback included:
Ease and convenience was a key point of differentiation for the concept, while lack of trust was a potential barrier to adoption
The core team received executive buy-in and used the momentum from the sprint to move to the next phase of the project – to assess for feasibility & viability
