Challange
TE Connectivity is a global leading ‘ingredient brand’ that designs and manufactures products that connect and protect the flow of power and data inside millions of products worldwide.
Although a global industry leader, TE lacked a focus on investing in digital sales and marketing. Their disjointed array of websites served only as outdated product catalogs, lacking the ability to build brand awareness, educate, and provide solutions to a community of engineers & business owners.
TE’s site experiences throughout the world were built on aging platforms that were unscalable. The sites had poor architecture making access to products and content difficult. In addition, their consumer experience was weak and lacked a strong brand expression. Administration and measurement were also very inefficient.

Approach
The team took an approach to design that included:
Elevating the TE brand while allowing legacy brands to continue to exist
Cleaning up the product taxonomy and establishing governance processes
Demonstrating global capabilities through a hyper-local approach
Enabling solution selling but not at the expense of surgical product search behaviour
The concept design was driven by a series of experience principles gathered through intensive stakeholder interviews.
